Movie Info

Based on a novel by Bruno Schultz and directed by the Brothers Quay, The Street of Crocodiles is an animated 21-minute absurdist take on a war-torn Polish city made sterile after suffering mass industrial decay. Individuals feel alienated from the rest of society while the reigning bureaucracy consistently chooses to promote consumption and materialism rather than working for the greater good of its citizens. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

It is a dark and melancholic piece which reflects the past in mysterious ways. The mise-en-scene and technique are quite unique and fascinating! This is not your typical animation!

The Quay brother's best and most well known work. Filled with disturbing images which are completely unforgettable.

It felt like an eerie stop-motion animation puppet show inside a torture chamber. Doll heads, insects and raw meat are used in disturbing ways. I was fascinated by it.
