The Davis family is going through some tough times in 1960: Laura and Frank have separated because after years of Frank’s unpredictable alcohol infused temper, Laura has taken action and thrown him out of the house. She has gone back to work as a nurse which her 11-year-old Ellen and 16-year-old Judy, don’t like any more than their dad does. To try to get Laura back, Frank gives her a beautiful antique necklace he finds in an old 1938 evidence bag at the station, and though Laura doesn't want to be "bought," Frank leaves the necklace at the house where Laura and the girls live. Unfortunately, the necklace is a conduit for the tormented soul of an evil boy from long ago, and Laura and her daughters find themselves in terrible danger from a little boy who no longer exists.

This all adds up to something that’s PG-13-level tame, and not bad-bad enough to be unwatchable — it is boringly competent — or good-bad enough to be campy.

Undervalued gem. Does every horror movie have to reinvent the genre?? It's not A24, people. I had a lot of fun with it. I love a good haunted house movie, and what a great cast!

The Curse of the Necklace (2024) Unoriginal Horror Movie (11,897 – 02 Sep 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In the 60’s, the nurse Laura (Sarah Lind) has separated from her husband, the police officer Frank Davis (Henry Thomas), due to his bad temper. Now she needs to work to support her daughters Ellen (Violet McGraw) and Judith (Madeleine McGraw). One night, Frank unexpectedly comes to have dinner with his family, and gives a beautiful necklace from a cold case to Laura expecting to rekindle their relationship. However, the necklace has a curse and an evil spirit trapped inside. When Ellen uses the necklace, she releases the spirit jeopardizing her family. “The Curse of the Necklace” (2024) is an unoriginal horror movie available in KLM flight. The story does not disclose anything new and despite the effort of the cast, it is difficult to work with clichés. My vote is five. I just watched it cuz Madeline and Violet McGraw were in it I didn’t know what to expect much, it was honestly pretty good, although the plot is so similar to so many other horror movies.
