In this retelling of the life of Christ, his experiences are recreated using claymation. Starting with his birth in Nazareth, Jesus (Ralph Fiennes) goes on to meet and inspire his apostles, perform various miracles and reveal his teachings. His baptism by John the Baptist (Richard E. Grant) is shown, as well as his meeting with Mary Magdalene (Miranda Richardson). Christ must eventually face the betrayal of Judas (David Thewlis), and succumb to Herod's (Anton Lesser) vendetta against him.

Quite simply one of the most genuinely profound and noteworthy depictions of the gospel story of all time, in any medium. Go to Full Review

It's a powerfully engaging film, one that correctly sees the gospels as spiritual autobiography, and Jesus's skill with parables as an art both fundamental and devastating. Go to Full Review

See more Jan 3, 2022 enjoyable animated story to watch with the family about the life & resurrection of Jesus around the time of him coming to Jerusalem for Psalm Sunday See more Apr 1, 2018 This is the best gospel movie of the 2000s. It's meticulously detailed sets and beautiful animation are brought to life by an incredible list of A list UK actors. This is one of the most moving and articulate presentations of the spiritual, personal and political message of Jesus through any medium See more Dec 27, 2017 So heartfelt:) Great for little ones. See more May 3, 2015 The date is incorrect - this was made in 2000 by BBC Wales. This is one of my favourite versions of the Greatest Story Ever Told on film. Ralph Fiennes plays Jesus excellently. The story is told faithfully, Jesus's stories, miracles, and of course the Resurrection. The Russian puppetwork is beautiful, almost lifelike for stop-motion. The Welsh animations are pretty good, too. The companies that made this film also made a series of some of the more well-known parts of the Old Testament, too. That series is called "Testament: The Bible in Animation", which is also pretty good. See more Jan 1, 2015 The miracle maker is very well realized gorgeous to look at and enjoyable.Despite some inaccuracy and mistakes in the story telling (especially toward the end) it manages to tell a very good depiction of the Jesus of the bible. the Miracle maker is without doubt a great addition to the bible movies.
