Based more-than-loosely on backstage shenanigans at "Saturday Night Live," "30 Rock" centers on young Liz Lemon, currently head writer for a live sketch-comedy show in New York. Complications follow when the network's new president orders Liz to hire mentally unstable movie star Tracy Jordan to join the cast, throwing neurotic leading lady (and Liz's best friend) Jenna Maroney into a tizzy. Liz tries to juggle all the egos around her while trying to chase her own dream.

James Poniewozik TIME Magazine 10/14/2019
At its best a 30 Rock episode is a beautifully constructed little piece of jewelry, with little joke beads catching the light and constantly flashing, adding up to an ingeniously designed larger whole... Other times, it's just a pile of pretty rocks. Go to Full Review

The show's true claim to fame, and a reason never to miss an episode, is Alec Baldwin, whose comic magnetism is so strong I'm surprised it hasn't caused weather disturbances. He doesn't steal scenes; he makes them rise and shine. Go to Full Review

A slightly-down third season of 30 Rock is still better than most television. Go to Full Review

Season 3 was early enough in the series' run that all jokes hit perfectly. Later seasons would have holes in them but this still ranks as the season in which the show finally hit it's stride. Go to Full Review

Rock remains one of the funniest shows on TV right now. Go to Full Review

Not much has changed in the formula, style or laugh departments (all are still some of the best on television) and the guest stars are ample yet again. Go to Full Review

Stephen S. @SueMe754 Jan 4 Tina Fey is a sociopathic fraud. She uses illegal surveillance techniques to eavesdrop on and stalk individuals who she has targeted for intellectual property theft - specifically to plagiarize her victims' verbal and written conversations, which she copies rote and, then, uses in her TV series and movies. You can tell that she doesn't do this in her books, because they are unreadable. She has been doing this to me for the last ten years without my consent. She has remote access to my phone and laptops. She has been stealing from me for that entire period of time. If she disagrees with this, I encourage her to sue me. See more Matheus F @matheusf_neto Aug 16 Season 3 is easily one of my best. See more Dave C 11/03/2024 Enjoying it still. LOVE Kenneth more and more. Lol. The level of satire has been turned up in this season too See more Test T @TestTest1 05/25/2024 I watched some of this on DVD recently. I've found it a rather mixed experience in terms of entertainment appeal. I thought some episodes were very amusing, whilst others seem laboured and unfunny. It's mostly the same cast of characters in every show so I can only conclude that it's the writing which is making the difference. I'll finish this series, but I don't think I'll bother with the other seasons unless the remaining episodes are consistently better. It's not a bad show, and I would recommend giving it a go to see how it suits you. See more 02/23/2021 This show is one of my favourites, this season is the best one! See more 04/22/2020 Hilarious writing, interesting plots and we see the characters finally realizing true potential. The banter and puns got wittier and sharper, best represented in 'The Funcooker'. Overall great, arguably the best season of 30 Rock See more Read all reviews
