CT 8 @ct8787 Dec 29 What could possibly go wrong? Take a Christmas classic and turn the main character (Scrooge) into a sadistic sociopath. Turn the Cratchett’s into a mixed race family (something that never would have happened prior to abolition) and then turn Cratchett’s wife into a woman willing to sell her body for money. This isn’t A Christmas Carol. It’s a disgusting reimaging written and directed by individuals who should seek psychiatric help. Easily the worst adaptation ever produced…and it’s not even close. See more andy y @AndyJYoung Dec 27 Loved it!! Guy Pearce made a fabulously vile Scrooge. The story steers away from the original Dickens story but certainly holds its own as a version that needs to be seen! It’s imaginative and fresh and actually rather horrific in parts… a lot of sexual innuendo and bad language so be warned for the kids… this ain’t The Muppets !! đŸ˜‰ I loved it all. Great film, great acting. See more Margaret K @Margolis Dec 20 This version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is brilliantly acted and made. An imaginative retelling of this classic hit all the good feels. See more Ruben A @RubenA Dec 14 An outstanding performance and dark retelling of this legendary story! If you take the story as a brand new story, it is impressively moving and emotionally redemptive of the human condition. Guy Pearse is so underrated. This was a masterful performance! See more William R. @Roemerman Dec 13 A truly terrible version. Doesn't work as a Christmas show. Doesn't work as horror, which it tries for. It doesn't even work as drama. The pacing is SLOW. The lighting was terrible. Some really good actors were cast, but there was no way they could rescue this turkey. See more Karen T @Chorch Dec 11 A brilliant and deep re-thinking of the fundamental flaws of ebenezer Scrooge. It’s like we watch him have an NDE complete with life review, which really makes his subsequent transformation believable. While a lighter treatment as originally conceived by Dickens will always be a holiday tradition , this version offers so much more to anyone seeking to understand the twists and turns of human development. Incredible writing and masterful performances by guy pierce and the entire cast. See more Read all reviews
