"We're in the business of making superstars and this year, business is booming," says Ryan Seacrest, without the faintest hint of irony -- now feels like some quaint holdover aspiration from the earliest days. Go to Full Review

And while the Season 14 premiere confirmed that Fox has no extensive renovation plans for The House That Kelly Clarkson Built, it did remind us that said structure can be a warm and very lovely place to relax for a few hours a week from January to May. Go to Full Review

SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch 08/12/2024 American Idol, a trailblazing competition that has the power to turn unknown individuals into superstars, has captivated audiences worldwide. The trio of judges, Randy, Paula, and Simon, brought their unique personalities and expertise to the show, creating an unforgettable dynamic. Over the seasons, American Idol has seen its share of memorable winners and controversial outcomes. From the quiet yet powerful vocals of Kelly Clarkson in season one to the legendary country singer Carrie Underwood in season four, each winner brought their own flair to the competition. Season five brought a new controversy with Taylor Hicks' win, overshadowing talented contestants like Chris Daughtry and Elliott Yamin. Despite the ups and downs, the show continued to produce stars like Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, and Scotty McCreery in later seasons. As the seasons progressed, American Idol faced challenges with judges' dynamics and changing formats. Winners like Caleb Johnson and Nick Fradiani faced struggles in establishing their post-show careers, highlighting the difficulties of maintaining success after the spotlight of the competition. The return of the show with new judges like Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan brought fresh energy to American Idol. However, recent winners like Maddie Poppe and Laine Hardy have faced challenges in making a lasting impact in the music industry. Season 23 holds the hope for a new mega star to emerge, reconnecting audiences with the show's legacy of producing successful winners. Despite the setbacks and controversies, American Idol remains a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talent and reach for stardom. With its rich history of iconic moments and unforgettable performances, American Idol continues to be a cultural phenomenon that sparks the dreams of aspiring musicians and entertains audiences around the world. See more 06/16/2017 An inconsistent season, at moments great and at moments pretty tired. The Good: The final 7 were pretty solid. The Bad: Incredibly inconsistent and not a single performance that will go down in Idol history. See more 01/07/2016 Still dominated by the judges antics ... ugh, entertaining, but they all ready made it ... who about the judges ... See more dennis m 04/15/2015 Forgettable. Judges prefer how they look on stage over how they sound. See more 11/09/2014 American Idol delivers their 13th season with host Ryan Seacrest and judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr, and Keith Urban. This season delivers 39 episodes of young contestants delivering their best efforts. This season seemed like a less mature group of artists trying to find their way and more coaching in the style of The Voice than past seasons. This also marks the first season of Harry and the first season without Randy Jackson (which was fine). The group of contestants was not as polished and mature as past seasons. This season may have shown the most growth in artistry during a single season than past seasons, but I can’t say these artists will make it big time because even after the season they still appeared to have room for growth. Overall, I did enjoy this season’s hosts and dynamics, but I can’t say the outcome was as awarding as year’s past. Grade: B See more Read all reviews
