Dr. George Coleman's gift with animals has made him one of New York's top vets, despite his unorthodox practice and his lack of charm when it comes to people. Things get shaken up at the animal hospital where he works when his ex-girlfriend takes over the family business. Despite the fact that she is smart and ambitious, old relationship issues and her lack of experience with animals really start to cramp his style, and he resists any change to the status quo. George also works with Dr. Yamamoto and Dr. Doug Jackson, a talented vet who is unlucky in love.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Animal Practice gets some good laughs out of its animal cast, but its human characters are thinly conceived and overly wacky.

PETA was right. No monkey should be forced to perform in a sitcom as lame as this one. Go to Full Review

In comedy, though, there's a fine line between wacky and desperate. Animal Practice crosses it early and often. Go to Full Review

Animal Practice is a forgettable show sloppily built from comedy cliches, but it can be fixed by firing most of the cast and rebuilding the show around the monkey. Go to Full Review

[I]t all feels like a very poorly developed vehicle to stuff guest celebrities and random animal acts into one show... something I don't think anyone is really that excited to watch. Go to Full Review

04/22/2016 The writing is what drags this down. The plot is very good though, and a unique twist on a somewhat familiar plot. The actors are great, and the characters show potential, but again, the writing doesn't utilize them. The show isn't very funny either. Yes, Rizzo is a classic character, and Andy from Weeds is a lot funnier and all around better when he's with him. This showed enough potential to check out, but wasted it all.
