When one of the medium's finest writers (series creator Tom Fontana) gets behind a series, it's not a bad idea to pay attention. But as a Copper newbie, I'm still struggling to figure out what all the love was about last season.

As with the first season, Corcoran remains at the heart of the show, and Weston-Jones' portrayal makes the detective a new TV hero worth rooting for.

This is strong drama.

Copper reveals not only the grim living conditions of 19th century New York, but also the implications of unchecked police power.

This episode is Copper at its liveliest, because the manhunt for a rampaging killer, while not exactly a model of narrative intricacy, crowds out most everything else and generates some excitement.
