Those early scenes are clunky, but it's also exciting to see so many larger-than-life characters in such quick succession.
I don't expect this show to be too graceful, but it appears to handle its central theme - destiny - in wildly contradictory ways.
Did I warn you about how absolutely cheesy it is? If I didn't, this is your warning: This show is the cheesiest thing ever. Luckily for me, that's about my bag
I'll stick around for more, but I liked the Flash pilot a good deal more than this one and the Arrow pilot (which was a bit iffy itself) more than this.
It's a bold choice for the premiere, and one of the first major emotional beats to resonate, and I'm more invested in seeing how showrunners handle that, than anything else.
The direction and camerawork is especially strong during the fight scenes, jumping from person to person with dizzying speed.
That said, all of the non-Hawk characters were really entertaining in this episode.
What surprised me most about the second part of the pilot is just how quickly the show is moving to address those early flaws. If you weren't already sold on this new series, this week's episode should clinch the deal.
It's a fun ride from top to bottom and should be considered at the top of the list of comic book television shows on the air right now.
The characters certainly deserve the opportunity to mesh in with the others, and they haven't been given that up to now. This was a fantastic follow-up to the premiere and only makes the excitement for the rest of this series even greater.
