Goku seeks training from the Grand Kai in Other World, but when Grand Kai decides to send a warrior named Pikkon to stop a gang of Goku's enemies from causing trouble, Goku volunteers to help.
The Kais gather with their students and decide to hold a tournament to determine who trained the best; Goku learns he will be trained by the Grand Kai if he wins the Other World Tournament, but must first beat East Kai in a race to qualify.
The Other World Tournament advances to the quarterfinals; Goku fights the fishlike Arqua, one of East Kai's warriors; Olibu and Pikkon fight, dazzling the crowd with their prowess and power levels.
Goku defeats Maraikoh to advance to the final round of the Other World Tournament, where he faces Pikkon; King Kai and West Kai make a bet on the outcome.
Goku and Pikkon power up to give each other their all as the final match of the tournament continues; Goku searches for a weakness in Pikkon's ferocious Thunder Flash Attack.
Several years after Cell's defeat, Gohan stops a gang of bank robbers on the way to his first day of high school, draws suspicion from a girl named Videl, and struggles to hide his true strength during a baseball game.
Gohan creates an alter ego to keep his identity a secret and asks Bulma to make him a costume; Gohan takes the name Great Saiyaman and assists Videl in rescuing a hijacked bus, but Videl continues to question his secret identity.
When a classmate tells Gohan she knows his secret, he takes her on a date so she won't reveal it to the rest of the school; a fire breaks out in the middle of their date and Gohan must risk becoming the Great Saiyaman once again.
A determined Videl pursues the Great Saiyaman to uncover his secret identity; when a criminal gang holds the mayor hostage, Gohan must find a reason to sneak out of school to help Videl deal with the threat.
Gohan, as the Great Saiyaman, attempts to rescue a young pterodactyl from captivity in a circus, but Videl interferes, leading to an altercation with the pterodactyl's vengeful parents.
