Galavant: Season 2 (2016)

Critic Consensus: The surprise second season of Galavant sends its cast in many directions, but keeps the fun and music that made it a hit firmly at its center.

Galavant: Season 2 Photos

Tv Season Info

Now that the dashing Sir Galavant (Joshua Sasse) has discovered that his ex, Queen Madalena (Mallory Jansen), is actually a nymphomaniac, an egomaniac and a psychopath, the second season of this medieval musical comedy picks up with the handsome fairytale hero bromancing around the woods with his enemy-turned-sidekick King Richard (Timothy Omundson). On a quest to reclaim Richard's kingdom and to rescue Galavant's new beloved, Isabella (Karen David), the two encounter lots of hurdles along the way, including a fortune-teller with a wonky crystal ball, a virgin-loving unicorn, and a pop diva played by Kylie Minogue---and that's just in the first two episodes. Other storylines find Isabella being held prisoner by her much younger cousin, whom she's supposed to marry; Madalena starting to care about somebody other than herself; and Richard on a quest of self-discovery and being reunited with a childhood friend who's secretly crushing on him. Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood also star.

Galavant Season 2 Episode 1 packed the funny and the jabs at itself in the big opening number, New Season.

If you haven't watched this medieval, musical comedy yet I can see how you might think the concept is a little silly, and it is, but in all the right ways.

My love for this show is so deep, I believe it makes up for all the others who "just don't get it."

Enjoy the kitschy fun of Galavant while it lasts, and who knows, perhaps the series can grow an audience and out perform even its own low expectations of itself.

Galavant is back, and it hasn't missed a beat.

Kat Likkel and John Hoberg's script handles the de-tinting of rose-colored glasses with just the right amount of weight to undercut the sitcom's silliness while never outright ignoring it.

Everyone sing Gaaallllaaavant! Featuring winning performances and a new bromance between King Richard and Galavant S2 is bigger and better than S1 and another fun romp through Valencia.

Galavant, for the uninitiated, is a ridiculously likable musical comedy - yes, a musical comedy.

Galavant's second season may be overly familiar to the show's fans, but that's what they're all clamoring for, anyway: great songs, goofy characters and a short-enough run that you never begin to question its verisimilitude.
