What to Know

Critics Consensus

Tastefully navigating the tragic loss of Chance Pedromo while getting a big boost from Hamish Linklater's villainous turn, Gen V's sophomore season gets high marks as a spinoff that feels essential.

In fact, the jokes here feel more accessory to the main plot than the main plot itself - though, fear not, that doesn’t mean a total absence of dicks and sexual kinks. Go to Full Review

“Gen V” may not reach its highest potential, but it’s impressive, entertaining, and ambitious in its own right. The team should be proud, and the fans should be happy. Go to Full Review

Elisha I @asapidox Dec 29 Dark, chaotic, and surprisingly emotional. Season 2 leans harder into the consequences of power and trauma while keeping the brutal humor and shock value intact. The characters feel more developed, the stakes are higher, and it ties into The Boys universe really well. Not perfect, but easily one of the strongest superhero shows out right now. See more Jonathan @JJBlade Dec 15 Fantastic series, and phenomenal acting, from the entire cast. See more Brandon K @TheKeizer Dec 15 Good follow-up to the first season with a twist I was not expecting, can't wait to see how the boys picks up after this. See more pranav v Dec 13 Gen V Season 2 expands the world of The Boys with confidence, leaning harder into character drama, moral ambiguity, and the cost of power. The season sharpens its focus on identity, control, and trauma, letting its cast breathe while still delivering brutal action and dark humor. While it occasionally stumbles with pacing and narrative sprawl, it remains bold, uncomfortable, and emotionally grounded — proving Gen V isn’t just a spin-off, but a story that stands firmly on its own. See more Liam E @Losinglemo Dec 6 After Season 1 I had such high hopes for this. Season 2 however, falls into generic territory, it fails as a follow up, almost immediately undoing the plot of season 1 for convenience purposes. The young characters who were stand outs in season 1 become cookie cutter and poorly written, all complexity and nuance is gone, replaced by a paint by numbers, predictable formula. Season 1 managed to introduce a new way to engage with adolescence in a fun, edgy and visceral way, personifying complex coming of age moments and not shying away from showing the good and bad these Characters are capable of to a sometimes shocking level. Season 2 delivers edgy CW story telling for the sake of churning something out and every opportunity given to do something interesting is lazily squandered leaving its main cast going through the motions. The adult performances were actually the highlight for me this year, with a huge villain introduced from the comics, but it goes nowhere, much like everything else. See more Viper Dec 3 Wow just wow, this show far exceeded my expectations I loved it I’m 15 and have been on the search for a good show and I think I have finally found it can’t wait to see if there will be a season 3 I’ll definitely be there if there is just wow the boys was ok but this, this was amazing See more Read all reviews
