Psychiatrist Craig Huffstodt finds himself in the midst of a midlife crisis after a teenage patient kills himself in Huffstodt's office shortly after coming out to his parents. Life at home isn't all that rosy either, and Huff may or may not be imagining a homeless man he helps out.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Huff's sophomore season suffers from an overload of drama and quirk, but the deeply felt performances continue to supply a pleasing parade of grace notes.

The first 30 minutes of the season opener is mostly a wallow in despair and sarcasm, brilliantly written by Huff creator Bob Lowry and directed by Scott Winant. Go to Full Review

Huff is about the complexities of adult lives. With that in mind, be forewarned that Huff is for adults only. Go to Full Review

It's solidly constructed and yet ordinary in its greatness... Having said that, the actors truly make Huff worth checking out. Go to Full Review

The acting and writing of this series are first rate: the characters believable, their storylines credible. That being said... I wonder what it will take for this series to take the next step and really make me care what happens to its characters. Go to Full Review

06/06/2020 Oliver Platt and Blythe Danner practically carry this show on their incredible performances alone. Their characters keep you going into the depths of exploration that one wants from a good character driven TV show. Season 2, however, makes a fatal error in having the titular character (Huff) grow apart from his wife, Beth. That is such a huge mistake that the show never recovers from. Their "we're in this together" bond while facing life's chaos was the bedrock for everything that was thrown at them. Their demise serves up predictable fodder that Season 1 was so good at avoiding. Bummer. See more Read all reviews
