Critic Reviews for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 1

Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous shows that there's still plenty of excitement to be mined in good, old fashioned Jurassic Park chaos.

The characters are not deeply drawn - nor were Fred, Velma, Daphne or Shaggy, for that matter - but their place in the gestalt is well defined, and in terms of story lines no camper is left behind.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is more of a holding pen, where kids can wait for the next proper dinosaur movie to come out.

With The Clone Wars and Rebels, Star Wars proved that youth-skewing animated series don't have to just be for kids. It's a shame, then, that Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is a blockbuster spin-off that only younger viewers will enjoy.

This spirited romp through the jungle will surprise and delight the young audience it was designed for.

From the terrifying Indominus Rex, to the cute Ankylosaurus friend named Bumpy, the dinosaurs in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous are first-rate... Unfortunately, the human characters aren't given quite enough time.

Fun, diverse tween dino adventure has some scary moments.

Sep 25, 2020 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The milquetoast opening half and more mature latter half don't quite mesh. Camp Cretaceous forms an inconsistent, if fairly watchable adventure series that borders on being a little too violent for a certain age group.

Sep 24, 2020 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

It's rare to find a modern children's show that trusts its audience to handle more intense subject material. In that sense, it's something to admire-even if it's unsettling at times.

There's a lot to admire about the series, and plenty of surprises too. Camp Cretaceous has an emotional weight that frequently catches you off guard.

My five year old son LOVES dinosaurs. While this is a tad too mature for some kids his age, I feel with an adult also watching with him it is ok. He cannot get enough of this. I'm so glad there seems to be another season on the way. I also really enjoyed it.

It ends better than it starts, and leaves you pretty satisfied. Some of the characters and stories aren't great but by the end it's really a heartfelt teamwork adventure with more depth than the movies. Most fans of the Jurassic movie franchise will probably enjoy this show but probably not as much as some of the films.

    Good trash kids show ;)

I Love It It's Like It's Connected To The Movie

I watched this with my 3 year old, he said some parts were scary (mainly based around one particular dinosaur) but he enjoyed it enough after we binged it he put it back on as soon as we finished season 1. So im typing this while rewatching episode 1 again haha. I am a huge Jurassic fan, so I am a little bias, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Once you get past it being a kids show, and that the characters are gonna be a little stereotyped, this show is surprisingly fun. The action towards the second half of the series is edge-of-your-seat, and there's some really witty dialogue moments too. The cliffhangers make it binge-worthy, and a worthy addition to the franchise.

CGI is just the worst. It's like a bad FPS video game from years ago, evoking Uncanny Valley at every turn - None of us could even make it 5 min, and my wife just finished watching every Jurassic Park movie. Disappointing.

I didn't think this would be any good - actually better than JP3 and Fallen Kingdom. For a "kids" show, I throughly enjoyed it.
