This is, by all reckoning, by-the-numbers storytelling that wallows unabashedly in the most hackneyed of the gangsters-in-a-moral-wasteland genre devices. Go to Full Review
Akhil Arora Gadgets360 07/03/2020
It tends to stumble and appears half-baked, but at its best, Mirzapur is an engrossing human drama about ambition, fulfillment, and pride wrapped into a tale of unrelenting blood and gore. Go to Full Review
Rahul Desai Film Companion 12/20/2018
A show that unabashedly highlights the "telling" in storytelling, and the "making" in filmmaking. Go to Full Review

Mirzapur is a show without a moral centre, which is problematic - not only ethically, but narratively. Everything is taken to an extreme - every emotion, every line of dialogue and every scene. Go to Full Review

Gourav S @RT86428914 08/23/2024 It's a really interesting webseries and everyone must give it a chance See more Stiles S @RT89410292 07/30/2024 EXCELLENT SERIES! My wife and I watched it with subtitles (we don’t know the language) and it was still an excellent show, unpredictable, violent, and lots of OMG WOW moments. HIGHLY RECOMMEND… watching a show with subtitles can be a turn off, I get it, but trust me, THIS SHOW IS REALLY GOOD!! Like a modern day Game of Thrones without dragons, set in India. See more Jose A @RT23646295 07/17/2024 un drama muy violento con buenas actuaciones See more Tarek A @tarekali 09/10/2023 Mirzapur is an organized crime drama of the finest calibre. Soaked in blood and gore, guile and wit, courage and bravado, it is a tremendously enjoyable ride. You are forced to keep guessing on the direction of each episode, especially on who will die when and how, like riding a fast rapid downstream. At the heart of the drama is the tale of two families, one born into crime and one forced into it. Do we really control our fate when others decide things for us? Do the crimes and mistakes of fathers haunt their kids? Indeed, these things are true. Running through the series is a cautionary tale of the dangers of hubris and the terrible price to pay. Season 1 showcases how one single fateful decision of misguided ethics and unintelligent posturing can destroy an entire family and drag it down the firing line. Events were set loose that could not be fully controlled or mitigated. This is how normal lives are upended, how normal people can discover how much wrong they are capable of. Season 2 is the long hard slog back to redemption and revenge, on the ashes of the dead. It is a study of how hubris can destroy a dynasty, and how enemies can lurk invisible in the shadows and in the open, and lunge at the throat in one fell blow. Everyone waits for a moment of weakness before striking, much like a virus in the body. Season 3 is desired and craved and we remain without closure since Oct 2020. We had some measure of justice and closure but the crime saga is far from over. Mirzapur pushed the boundaries and set the stage for the series that followed, opening the doors to the depiction of raw brutality which is indeed real life. See more sachin j @satcitananda 07/10/2023 Hinduphobic, vulgar and unnecessarily gory See more 03/24/2022 Excellent Acting, dragging storyline and defaming value of families in Hindi Heartland:- The ensemble cast has done a brilliant job. Be it the wretched politician played by Pramod Pathak (Chief Minister's Brother) or his concubine Anagsha Biswas or the helpless Dad (Rajesh Tailang) of Guddu Pandit; be it the sharp cop Amit Sial or the identical twins with non identical characteristics, played simultaneously by Vijay Verma - the actors were beautiful & radiant. Sheeba Chaddha (Guddu Pandit's Mom), Dibyendu Bhattacharya (Not to be misunderstood with "Divyendu" of Munna Tripathi fame) and Shaji Chaudhary (Maqbool, Kaleen Bhaiya's principal henchman), in spite of the limited opportunity and screen presence, will mesmerize you, especially Sheeba Chaddha. Rasika Dugal's role was author backed and she did damn good justice to the space given to her. Veteran Kulbhushan Kharbanda was no doubt good, but the character suffered from monotony, due to scriptwriter's casual approach Divyendu – Our Munna Bhaiya was just incredible. Restlessness, abusive motor mouth, having no principal, being funny, experiencing a change of heart, falling in love with wife - all shades were executed with equal finesse Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit was also quite good and so was his new Heroine Shernavaz Jijina (Shabnam). But Golu (Shweta Tripathi) stole the thunder as the revenge thirsty sister. Her frustration, silent pain and loneliness as a lover and a crusader as well, would surely leave an impact. Harshita Gaur as Dimpy and Anjum Sharma as Sharad Shukla deserve special mentioning for blending the emotional attachment and composure & calmness, respectively, into their characters Isha Talwar (Munna Tripathi's newlywed bride) and Priyanshu were excellent revelations. Priyanshu's cool demeanor is a surprise package and stole the thunder even from the Hero "Guddu" while sharing screen together whereas Isha's competence to pull off the character of a veteran Politician's daughter would leave you spellbound. She proved it beyond doubt that her enlistment as the character was a marvelous choice And then enter our Kaleen Bhaiya alias Akhandanand Tripathi. Whenever Mr. Pankaj Tripathi appeared on the screen, he simply blazed it. His control over his expressions, effortless hard hitting dialogues, are beyond appreciation. Pankaj Ji just immortalized Kaleen Bhaiya Now let's come to the story telling. Had the hangover of the success of previous performance somehow backfired? Had over confidence got the better of confidence? If not, then where is the magical gripping of session 1? Infidelity, vengeance, revolt, Politics – the factors may appear to be lip smacking. But if without proportion, all are forced into one story, the storyteller is most likely to lose his command over the flow of incidents. The editing could have been far sharper to reduce at least one episode in whole. Scriptwriter / Directors have to keep it in their mind that a viewer also becomes a part of the ongoing drama on the screen and a less critical story line provides him / her the fancy to get rid of the criticality of real life. But in Mirzapur Session 2, to keep the intensity intact, plots after plots along with sub plots and unnecessary additional characters, actually jumbled up the entire scenario. Though efforts were put to make the ends meet, but at the end of the show you would feel the fatigue to memorize so many unworthy information See more Read all reviews
