"One of Us Is Lying" is based on Karen M. McManus' New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. Mystery surrounds Bayview High when five students walk into detention and only four walk out alive, leaving one dead just as he was about to reveal life-changing secrets about the others in a gossip app. Each of the students, Bronwyn, Addy, Nate and Cooper, had the opportunity and individual motives to murder their classmate, but all claim to be innocent as the case revolves around which one of them is lying.

I particularly enjoyed the first season and thought the second was just okay. I haven't read the book series but since this show was abruptly canceled recently, I may be interested enough to go back and read them. The characters are just high school show stereotypes for a modern age and sometimes the show hits a lot of familiar beats, but the central mystery in the first season is great. Overall, it is a quick and enjoyable watch for genre fans, but it is not going to be a show that goes down among the best. See more Read all reviews
