As usual, the real-life complexities of foreign-policy peacekeeping were presented as a comic-strip soap saga - Hollyoaks in fatigues - which is apparently all BBC One thinks its midweek audience can manage. Go to Full Review

They overdo the void-before-the-storm thing to the extent of almost forgetting to have any weather at all. Go to Full Review

In the five years since Our Girl was first broadcast its original frame - nave girl runs off to join the Army, like Private Benjamin but without the jokes - has been more or less completely dismantled. Go to Full Review

I've never been in the Army, but I can't imagine anybody involved with the making of Our Girl has either. Go to Full Review

03/14/2020 Want some advice ? Don't ever call a hardened combat medic "sugar tits". This series is an unusual animal. Its a remarkably progressive depiction of women in the British service. Thinly choreographed tactical scenes coupled with soapy romance derail the production until you get comfortable with the idea that Our Girl is at heart a soap opera layered over an action series. In the end Its your actions ,not whats in your heart, that determine who you are. Season one is the best of the four seasons so far. In season one the evolution of the main character Molly from an unmoored soon to be pregnant drinking girl to military medic is creative and fiercely written. People who can't write teach literature. It certainly shows a different perspective - that of Molly the medic. Get through the pilot - typical background - the character development is very good, cinematography is excellent and Molly is amazing!!
