humor really has taken a back seat to 'the message' with this show lately.

So far I like season 47 a lot. SNL began as a counterculture show and it's finally starting to feel that way again.

The show is still great. Owen Wilson did a great job in the season premiere. Weekend Update is always funny and Colin Jost and Michael Che are the perfect host's

This show continues to fall short of it's legacy. I don't think the writing room understands what used to make this show great. The political sketches were funny because the joke was on the show. What made them funny was the ridiculous nature of the sketches, not the political leanings of the show. I'm an ultra liberal and often accused of being and SJW, but this show sacrifices comedy to make statements. That's fine if you're doing a podcast, but it's not funny on a sketch comedy show. It's not "The Daily Show," "Last Week Tonight," or "Real Time" it's a sketch comedy show. No one wants their politics to be spoon fed to them by SNL. They want people to be made fun of, silly slap stick sketches, and funny sketch comedy. The sad thing is that this show has become too big to fail and the producers know this. Micheals is phoning it in at at this point. This is a show in transition, the only problem is that that transtion is over two decades long.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What's ultimately telling is that I'm sure anyone who supports the show and is reading this is saying "Who cares what you're opinion is, it's still going to be on the air." That's the problem, the show won't be cancelled and everyone knows it, especially the people who make it. When they do touch upon topical issues they purposely avoid making any accurate points. They side step and dance around what is actually going on. The sketch about school board meetings for instance addressed exactly NONE of the right wing talking points of actual school board meetings. It's just poor writing. This show has tried so hard it's lost the reason for trying in the first place. YAWN.
