Here it is at last: savannah soap! And it's fab.

It's hard to trust these constructed science-free stories, which tend towards squeamishness... It is worth sticking with, however, because the film crew have submitted wonders.

Entertaining, visually stunning African animal series.

It's hard to fathom whom this is for, given it feels like it's for children on the one hand but definitely isn't on the other. Weird. But watchable, even if it isn't "new."

The BBC must quietly be preparing for the day when Attenborough can't play Glasto any more. I fervently hope this isn't the way forward, although it has given me a useful new distinction between "popular" and "populist".

Serengeti, a gloriously photographed spectacle that will have staid naturalists tearing their hair out.

It's all very EastEnders: Off to the Plains.

This is a close-up first person steady cam approach to looking at the lives of the animals of the Serengeti as though it were a reality show. It does not work. I found the story lines to be contrived and disingenuous and the camera angles unnatural and silly. It really is a disservice to these animals and this region to overly humanize their stories. They are, after all, not human.

One of the best narrated shows about the wild animals in the Serengeti National Park I've ever seen. The cinematography is second to none. The mix between the video of the animals and the narration makes it seem like the animals were paid actors. A stunning achievement.

Serengeti is amazing. The music helps you feel the emotion of the animals. The animals having names make you feel connected. I never thought I'd feel sorry for a hyena.

This is by far one of the best telling and depictions of the lives of African animals I've ever seen!!!! The storytelling and the storyline written and how it's connected to the footage shown is superb and genius!! I have found myself waiting with high anticipation for every episode to find out what happens next with these animals, their families. The emotional element is unbelievable!! I cry with the mothers, the babies and the land!! It's truly a MUST SEE!! Hats off to ALL the poured their heart n soul into this production!! And Lupita narrating adds the cherry on too!! Her voice and presentation pulls it all together and pulls you into these animals lives in such a personal level!! I'm in awe!! Please keep more episodes coming!!

Story and the filming and visual effect were great but the narrator wasn't so good

Refreshing and entertaining, beautiful scenery and gorgeous animals.

Brilliant ! Beautiful photography amazing narration. Just overall stunning

Unbelievably rich photography and a mirror to reflect on how fragile the biodiversity of this planet is and how it is being threatened. A must see for our young people as they will be the generation that hopefully can save it.

I lasted only about 15 minutes. The quality of the filming is straight out of the 50s. The story is straight out of a soap opera. I was expecting an HD experience at least. The "characterization" is juvenile. Ditch this one.

Some of the shots and the narrative are ok. But the whole over dramatization is awful. No scientific foundation and just awful story telling. The scenes of some „stories" haven't even been shot in the same time of day. And yes, there are also a lot of bad special effects included. I hope this is not the future of BBC.
