So far: Cage can't deliver an effective noir voiceover. He sounds like he's doing a comically poor version of Bogart. Is he trying to make people laugh? The title music is very badly chosen. It's retro soul from the 60s or 70s which invokes absolutely no sense of noir from the 40s. I have never found Nicholas Cage to be a strong actor, but I had hoped with a heavily stylized piece like this he could just be himself and it would be fine. In fact I still think if he had just tried to do what he does best and play himself it would have felt much more natural and less like the show is trying to pander to an audience unfamiliar with actual noir classics. Apparently the popular fascination with comic book everything and pale noir imitation is paying off. I guess they knew what they were doing after all. They definitely cashed in on this one. It takes away everything that made spider man unique and loved, particularly that he is a fresh faced teenager, not some washed out depressed old man. They basically turned spiderman into batman. It's become dark and brooding and serious rather than upbeat , optimistic, and comical. Though spider noir is funny, but not intentionally. I think Cages film noir accent is ridiculous. See more Kate E @kateelfatah 11h If you told me a week ago I'd be giving a Marvel Universe TV show a 5/5, I would've given you the side eye. But here we are. Spider-Noir absolutely delivers. Great performances across the board, Nicolas Cage is perfectly cast, the cinematography is stunning, and the editing is some of the most creative I've seen in a long time. Most importantly, the story kept me invested from start to finish. Even if you're not someone who runs to every superhero movie or show, this one stands on its own as a fantastic crime noir series.
