A well-made, well-acted bit of sub-Midsommar horror... Go to Full Review

It’s a lot, and the outcome is a bit more pulpy than you might have expected for a Samantha Morton drama. Still, we’re in the Halloween silly season, and The Burning Girls is no less addictive for all that... Go to Full Review

It feels unfair judging The Burning Girls as a piece of modern streaming horror... But just like Chapel Croft, there’s something off about this tale of witchery and brutality. Go to Full Review

Betty B @Betty1977 01/23/2025 I had high hopes and expectations...which were quickly dashed. Samantha Morton is great as usual, however Flo's character is at best just naive or worst...? How could a Reverend's daughter be so blasè about Wriggly's apparent fascination with Satanic imagery? Let alone fell for him and thinking its a good idea to go for a 'romantic' first date to this creepy house with virtual stranger? Her behaviour is so inconsistent, just made me annoyed. One minute she is trembling in bed after seeing the ghost girls, the next minute she is so 'mature'and sending away her 'babysitter', despite people dropping dead in the village daily. See more Marek B 12/22/2024 Really good series, kept me glued to the screen and not usually able to sit through anything See more Jamie C 12/16/2024 I thought this was actually a pretty good series, it was well written, had a lot of tension and the characters worked pretty well. The twist with Wrigley and the Reverend were very unexpected. But I did have some things that I think should have been done differently.....spoilers ahead..... It was called The Burning Girls but they played such a tiny part in it and they're part didn't really add a huge amount to the story. Then you had Judith Lane's ghost randomly appearing. I don't understand who tried to run over the "psycho/vagrant" who was trying to get to the reverend, it's never explained....like it was just an accident/coincidence. There was the whole backstory of a child being sacrificed at the Reverend's previous church and I thought that would come into play or be linked more directly but it wasn't. The revelation with Pauline might have made more sense if we'd kind of seen some more bits about the younger Pauline. I think that when you find out about the Reverends little brother, you do feel sorry for him but I feel they could have had him kill that old couple in a different way, that wasn't so unprovoked.....like had the old guy trying to attack him or call the police etc. Various little niggles which I think if altered could have made it perfect. See more Sarah N 11/12/2024 I was really enjoying this up until episode 3. The creepy ghost girls in the church, the weird townsfolk. It just got a bit all over the place, too many storylines made it unbelievable and hard to follow. I felt they ruined a potentially brilliant story. See more Neal M 11/05/2024 Very eerie and alot of twists and turns, good acting and very watchable Liked it alot See more Em A 11/03/2024 Am I the only one that gets agro when films start with a great premise for a horror (like get out) and they have to make it some weird trippy mess? Enjoyed it if it fit in thriller, it's not horror See more Read all reviews
