Tv Season Info

A program loosely inspired by two real-life lawyers, the CBS comedy-drama series "The Defenders" follows the exploits of Pete Kaczmarek (Jerry O'Connell) and Nick Morelli (James Belushi) a colorful pair of Las Vegas defense attorneys. The men will do seemingly anything to aid their clients, while attempting to keep their personal lives under control on the side. First-season cases find Kaczmarek and Morelli defending such characters as an exotic dancer at a strip club, a woman who becomes implicated in charges of vehicular homicide when she strikes down a jogger with her car, an illegal arms dealer, and an adolescent who accidentally ingests the wrong dosage of prescription medication.

Critic Reviews for The Defenders Season 1

All Critics (18) | Top Critics (9)

Did I want to watch "The Defenders'' again? Not so much. And that's always the test.

Sep 22, 2010 | Full Review…

The plots feature lots of creative legal give-and-take to keep the audience amused and guessing.

Sep 22, 2010 | Full Review…

The show is an old-fashioned courtroom procedural, but the pilot has enough sharp writing and well-greased plot twists to suggest future promise.

Despite the ubiquity of superheroes today, there are not enough stories that are willing to send their heroes to the darkest of ends, after they've been put through the wringer.

Aug 27, 2018 | Full Review…

You already know what you are going to find: more of the same. blows, false depth, some other captivating character, badly shot fights and heroism without meshes or jokes. [Full Review in Spanish]

Jul 9, 2018 | Full Review…

It's so-so.

Feb 20, 2018 | Full Review…

In the end, The Defenders is a lot of fun...while I want to call this Daredevil season 2.5, this is The Defenders.

Jan 24, 2018 | Full Review…

Even if the action and story moving forward is a bit dull, these characters are worth exploring, especially when they're together.

Dec 18, 2017 | Full Review…

These characters work so well together, it's now hard to imagine them apart.

Dec 19, 2017 | Full Review…

As these things go, The Defenders really could have imploded conceptually, but it is really thriving by its midpoint and gives off the impression that moving forward things will drastically improve.
