Based on the best-selling fantasy book series by Terry Brooks, "The Shannara Chronicles" follows heroes in the Four Lands as they embark on a quest to stop an evil Demon army from destroying the universe. Thousands of years after the fall of humankind, the world's fate rests on the shoulders of an unlikely trio: Elvin Princess Amberle, who dreams of a life outside of the palace walls; beautiful, wild and wily Human Rover Eretria, and half-elf Wil, who knows nothing of the great destiny that runs through his veins. Later, a mysterious woman named Mareth joins the fight.

The Shannara Chronicles may have moved from MTV to Spike for season 2, but the cast and the countryside are no less beautiful for it. Go to Full Review

Major changes are sweeping the Four Lands in The Shannara Chronicles' second season - and I'm not just talking about Wil Ohmsford's fresh haircut. Go to Full Review

If "Druid" is any indication of what's to come, we might be in for a more exciting ride this season. One that will actually be - y'know - memorable. Go to Full Review

While not quite the auspicious rebirth it could have been, Druid is a vast improvement over the narrative meandering that previously plagued the series. Go to Full Review

Beyond that, what becomes more and more fascinating about the show episode to episode is how it passes itself off as high fantasy, middle earth drama when, in reality, the show's a post-apocalyptic urban fantasy series with a hint of sci-fi. Go to Full Review

Joshua M 12/06/2024 I enjoyed the first season as a fantasy show fan. Second season fell apart and was just bad, bad acting, plot and story... See more Sharon E 01/29/2024 Loved this season! So disappointed that there was not a Season 3. See more Daniel S 12/07/2022 Even worse than first season. See more 11/06/2021 Finally got around to season 2 after a couple years break from season 1. 1 was good if riddled with teenage drama, it was a 3+ star experience for me. I thought the sequel would never match it, especially without a certain character. Boy was I wrong. It's darker, deeper, and better in just about every way. It holds onto its B+ movie goodness (+ as the locations are exquisite), and cuts the teenage drama in half, keeping just enough to feel a little real. The protagonists ARE teenagers / young adults, and keeping that in mind, it's actually refreshing to see "normal", when every other fantasy series tries to be all work and no play. It does draw heavily on Tolkien, but that's on Brooks not on the show. Of course, as far as the viewer is concerned, it's still part of the show. For me, it does it in a way that's removed enough from fantasy Middle-Earth - Shannara takes place ON EARTH - the world and characters are portrayed quite differently. I am all for a revival for Season 3. Netflix has the Witcher, maybe Amazon can pick up Shannara. See more 03/23/2021 There is only one decent character (the druid). The rest are annoying teenagers.
