The combination of small town horror and subtle BL elements works particularly well, resulting in a title that stands easily among the best anime of the year. Go to Full Review

Ryohei Takeshita’s direction is something to behold. His masterful orchestration of perspective, textures, and spatial composition is reminiscent of Twin Peaks in its gift for making the ordinary feel faintly poisoned. Go to Full Review

Each episode leaves you with a constant feeling of unease, which doesn't rely too heavily on jump scares but instead focuses on building tension. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

This anime teen drama does what horror does best: take something unfamiliar and make you confront your fears about it. Go to Full Review

It may not be the happiest tale, but it is a heartwrenching and human one. Go to Full Review

Purry A @RT73926649 2d A few years ago, I initially read the manga of the series first. I was HOOKED. I just love how this series combines both mystery and horror with slow-burn romance. This series (AND manga) is a must see if you're tired of care-free happy anime or just want to see some monster and human relationship development (which is pretty interesting!) Oh and don't get me started on the visuals. I've never seen such fluid and colorful animations in anime :0 Do watch this whilst psychoanalyzing each and every frame! See more dogo f @pochita_ Feb 20 9.6/10. I kinda wanted to give this five stars because of how much I loved the seventh episode and the finale but I decided not to because I did take a break near the end to focus on One Piece so I forgot a lot since then… Loved this. One of the most atmospheric and emotional shows I've ever seen with so much beautiful and detailed animation. It's sad, thought-provoking, mysterious and sometimes genuinely horrifying. It was interesting how they combined horror, fantasy, psychological drama, slice of life, and "subtle" queer themes (honestly very obvious between the two male main characters.) I think on a rewatch I would like it more, but I still really did. And it was cool watching an anime while it aired, as I've never done that as I've only gotten into anime over the past year or so. The metaphors are so, so disgustingly well placed See more Ry N @RyGuy Nov 18 Hikaru becomes possessed after coming back from the mountains, bringing spirits with him. The impurities had a creepy vibe that I enjoyed but the overly dramatic friendship makes this feel like a soap opera at times. See more Ellis Y @RT74260769 Nov 1 This is the most interesting animated series I've ever seen. It's use of animation is so fun and unique working perfectly in tandom with the surreal plot. The whole tone of the show is spectacular. It's erie mostly due to this casualness the show doesn't push uncomfortable tension on you the whole time but let's the lack of it build the odd environment. Absolutely must watch can't wait for S2 🤞 See more Maria M @RT25311170 Oct 13 It is amazing. I haven't read the manga yet but the anime is excellent. I do not reccomend it if you are new to anime. If you want to watch a horror but without much blood, this is for you. The animation is great and every new episode is a new important piece of information. It is a bit complicated, but still great. I really recommend it. See more Read all reviews
