What to Know

Critics Consensus

Balancing a bittersweet examination of a crumbling marriage with a scenic travelogue, Us finds mirth in even the most caustic of human interactions.

The two episodes fly by before you know it. You'll want to spend a few Sunday nights with this family, warts and all. Go to Full Review

While the show does find some drama in that disconnect, "Us" is largely like the Petersen family itself: following a well-worn trail with one man resisting the pull to spend time on a more fulfilling path. Go to Full Review

Us is not exactly heartwarming, but it is a fine balance of humor and pathos, with a naturalistic pace and a focus away from expected tourist landmarks (a kind of recurring joke within the series). Go to Full Review

I found this series in the main enjoyable, its only real weakness being the copious flashback scenes that show how husband and wife met. Go to Full Review

As a whole, Us is thoroughly middlebrow, delivering a happy ending, though one that's wise enough to come with notes of melancholy. If nothing else, with its European settings, it provides some easy-viewing, travel-porn. Go to Full Review

Us manages to be funny and heartfelt despite documenting what looks to be the end of a long marriage. Go to Full Review

06/29/2021 The first three hours were innovative and well acted, building empathy for the leads, and we liked it! Then in the fourth and final hour with about 10 minutes left, they flipped the script unexpectedly, without explanation, onto a negative tone, after setting us on a positive path. It's as if they left 5 minutes of plot on the cutting room floor in their haste to get done. Ending in short was a terrible disappointment, not well done at all. See more 06/28/2021 I LOVED US! Tom Hollander is one of the best actors, ever - and the story was relatable and lovely. I thought US was a great way to spend 4 hours. See more Read all reviews
