With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates -- Pete Calvin, Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz, and Miles Kittle -- must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence with their duty to their families.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Marshals confines Kayce Dutton within a dim procedural that lacks the narrative spark and intrigue that Yellowstone managed instantly, making this one ham-fisted trek.

The prolific Sheridan didn’t work on the show, which might explain why it’s a compact, somewhat predictable, network procedural. Go to Full Review
Zaki Hasan TheWrap Mar 5
Plays less like the next chapter in the Dutton saga than a side expedition, adjacent to the family legacy but not meaningfully advancing it. Go to Full Review

In truth, it’s too enamored of Dutton lore to let Kayce stand on his own, let alone the show around him. Go to Full Review

Kayce’s life is now a kind of TV show that you’ve seen countless times before. It doesn’t have the same artfulness behind it, and the pacing barely leaves time for sweeping shots of the Montana valley or reflection of any kind. Go to Full Review

C V @HollywoodBigShot 10h Tuned in for Yellowstone version 2 and ended up with NCIS Montana. Typical Hollywood formula writing. The only reason the critics are giving it a better score than the audience is that the series writers have checked all the virtue signaling boxes. This is not Taylor Sheridan writing, and it shows. Total bait and switch. Very disappointing. See more Joshua P @RT13079959 17h Love Marshals. Anything to do with the Dutton family is a must watch. See more Debbie H @RT84547076 1d I have really been enjoying this series after a bit of a slow start. Luke Grimes and his relationships with his new colleagues has a long way to go and I’m gonna stick with this series. See more KaiserSoze 6 @RT91048057 1d Terrible.... this is what happens when you take a show and give it to other people. This is NOT a Paramount+ Taylor Sheridan creation, and it shows. It It is a CBS show, using the same formulas we have seen a dozen times on shows like NCIS and all those other cop or first responder shows. Has NOTHING to do with Yellowstone, other than having 3 characters in it (doing nothing related to or similar to anything in Yellowstone), and has one character (the US Marshal top man) every now and then throw out some reference to Yellowstone that has nothing to do with what is going on. Also, the really pitiful part is that they have US Marshals tackling different cases each week (which they miraculously solve in a day) which are things that US Marshals would never do. So far, they have taken on things that ATF, DEA, FBI, and state rescue would have been called in to take care of. See more Lejandie E @RT21924419 2d I think it’s a combination of bad writing and bad delivery. Like in the episode of the helicopter crash they are more about arguing with the injured man on why he went up with the weather than quickly moving him. Then the injured man sits up To check on the pilot and say she is dead instead of Kacie saying she had passed and he is standing right by her.🤦🏻‍♀️ Then you have a bear that shows up as well?!? It like trying to put to much together at one time. See more Randal A @Nco77 2d Very formulaic show. 2 beautiful female Marshalls that are just as tough as the men. Troubled war vet. Native American struggling with his heritage. Acting is really bad, writing is weak. Can't see this getting picked up See more Read all reviews
