Having long-since abandoned his life as a lethal soldier, John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) lives a solitary life near the Thai border. Two weeks after guiding a missionary (Julie Benz) and her comrades into Burma, he gets an urgent call for help. The missionaries have not returned, and although he is reluctant to embrace violence again, Rambo sets out to rescue the captives from the Burmese army.

I am a big fan of the original film. It dealt with an important issue of soldiers retuning home from an unpopular war and in Rambo's case with PTSD. This installment is worthless. Unless you are a ghoul, there is nothing in this film to redeem it from the garbage pile it belongs in. Far too much blood and carnage. If you like seeing dismemberment, rape and torture this movie is for you. Otherwise, don't bother. The story is also bloody stupid, so no value in watching it for that reason either. Maybe Schartznegger told him it was a great script as a sick joke, which Sly took seriously. A terrible film.

The way Sly portrayed the SAS guy is totally wrong. In fact I was quite disgusted by it. Was it to make the US special forces look better? What a cheap shot. The British (superior) Special Forces wouldn't dream of behaving like that. Shame on you!

Greetings from Lithuania. "John Rambo" (aka. Rambo IV) 2008 is a pure action film directed by the Rambo himself - Sylvester Stallone. As a super fan of the character I basically grew up with first 3 movies - this was my superhero when I was a kid. And "Rambo IV" didn't disappointed back in 2006. This is a very bloody, faced paced action film were action is front and center, without pretty much anything else. On that it works. One shouldn't look for character development or anything like that in Rambo IV - it's pure action. Overall, while not my favorite in the series (and by far not the worst - leave that to a disappointing "Last Blood"), "Rambo IV" is a lean mean killing machine. Its pure action, premise is simple yet effective and Sylvester Stallone is in Rambo mode. Sometimes that is all you need.
