Over the course of his 50-year career, French actor Francis Lax has portrayed such iconic roles as Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Lex Luthor. But while American stars Harrison Ford and Gene Hackman brought these characters to life in front of the camera, Lax delivered all of his lines from a sound booth, dubbing their dialogue in French to help bring the films to French-speaking audiences. Before defining his career as a voice actor--other credits include "The Godfather Part II," "Alice in Wonderland" and "Starsky and Hutch"--Lax was a stage and screen performer, with credits in both mediums stretching back to 1955. With no professional training, Lax stumbled upon actors belonging to Grenier de Toulouse, a renowned acting company in France, who invited him to join their troop. His many stage credits include a 1966 production of Neil Simon's famous comedy "The Odd Couple," and more recently, a 1994 production of Woody Allen's "The Magic Lamp." The actor's most notable on-screen role was Director PJ, the police supervisor in the crime series "Commissaire Moulin"; he later reprised and retired the character in the early 2000s. In addition to acting, Lax was given the opportunity to write for the French version of the '80s series "The Muppets," for which he also provided the voices of Scooter and Fozzie, among many other characters.
