Olympic ice dancer Madison Chock was born July 2, 1992 in Torrance, Calif., the daughter of Wes and Barbara Chock. She first took to the ice at the age of 5, becoming interested after seeing the sport on television. At the age of 12 she was introduced to ice dancing, and in June 2006 she was paired with Greg Zuerlein, placing 5th in the novice division at the 2007 U.S. Championships. The pair won the 2007-08 ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Estonia, and qualified for the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final, ultimately placing 5th. In 2008-09 the pair became World Junior Champions and made their senior Grand Prix debut in 2009-10. In June of 2011, however, they ended their partnership when Zuerlein retired from competition. She partnered with Evan Bates in July of 2011. Their performance at the 2013 ISU World Team Trophy helped lead the U.S. team to victory. Chock and Bates danced at the 2014 Winter Olympics, where they finished in eighth place in both the short and free dances. The pair later qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.
