Actor, director and producer Peter Horton was probably best known by viewing audiences for his portrayal of single, carefree Gary on the iconic eighties yuppie drama, "thirtysomething" (ABC, 1987-1991). The lanky, bearded blonde with the charming smile had a sizeable list of TV and film acting credits - however industry followers and credit-readers knew that the bulk of his work was actually behind the camera. As director, producer, and creative consultant for award-winning dramas like "The Shield" (FX, 2002-08) and "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC, 2005- ), Horton proved he was more than just a camera-ready pretty boy. Horton was also an outspoken environmentalist, serving on the board of the Environmental Media Association and appearing in Chris Paine's documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car" (2006).

QUOTES FROM Peter Horton CHARACTERS

Dr. Burt Stanton says: [about the Bible] What, did you rewrite the whole thing, or just the parts that don't suit your needs?

Job says: Don't worry, Mister. You'll be safe here. Isaac and Malachi don't know about this place.

Dr. Burt Stanton says: Enough! Who are Isaac and Malachi?

Job says: Isaac started the whole thing. He's a boy preacher who came to this town three years ago. At nine-years-old back then, he had a charming way that appealed to all the kids and teens like us to follow him with his own teachings of the bible and of the Old Testiment. But me and Sarah thought he was just plain weird.

Dr. Burt Stanton says: What about Gatlin?

Diehl says: Gatlin! There ain't nothin' in Gatlin.

Dr. Burt Stanton says: What do you mean there ain't nothin' in Gatlin?

Diehl says: Well, folks in Gatlin's got a religion. They don't like outsiders, and they probably don't have a phone there either.

Dr. Burt Stanton says: Don't ever show up in my emergency room, buddy!

Job says: Is it dead?

Dr. Burt Stanton says: I think so.

Job says: Then why are we still running?

Dr. Burt Stanton says: She's out cold. What are going to do now?

Vicky Baxter says: Send her a get well card from Seattle. Let's get the hell out of here!

Dr. Burt Stanton says: I spy, with my little eye, something that starts with C.

Vicky Baxter says: Corn.

Dr. Burt Stanton says: What do you mean: "As it's written?" Written where? What, In this? Are you rewriting the whole thing or the parts that suit your needs?

Dr. Burt Stanton says: What do you mean: 'As it's written?' Written where? What, In this? Are you rewriting the whole thing or the parts that suit your needs?

Dr. Burt Stanton says: Are you crazy? What do you think you're doing?

Boy says: My passage. It's my birthday.

Dr. Burt Stanton says: You've got a pretty sick way of celebrating it, pal.

Dr. Burt Stanton says: Any religion without love and compassion is false! It's a lie!
