Ray Butt is a television director and producer best known for his work on "Only Fools and Horses" and "Are You Being Served?" Butt began his TV career in 1974, when he landed a job as a production assistant on the British prison comedy "Porridge" and directed an episode of the TV short "The Last Turkey in the Shop Show." He next produced several episodes of the sitcom "Happy Ever After" and found steady work directing numerous shows, including the long-running "Are You Being Served?," which detailed the misadventures of a British department store staff. Between 1977 and 1980 Butt directed and produced over 30 hours of television on such series as "Citizen Smith" and "Q5." In 1981 he joined the directorial and production staff of the award-winning series "Only Fools and Horses," about two scam artists/antique-dealers always on the lookout for their next big score. During the late '80s Butt served as executive producer on "Young, Gifted and Broke," and directed numerous episodes of such primetime series as "Dear John," "Just Good Friends," and "Sob Sisters."
