Paranormal Activity 3 (2011) Kevin McCarthy The flick improves upon the second films' problems, but doesn't live up to the fresh vibe of the original. I still jumped out of my seat and screamed like a little girl!

The Thing (2011) Kevin McCarthy It's sad that in 2011, CGI transformation effects pale in comparison to the brilliant creature make-up effects of John Carpenter's 1982 masterpiece.

The Big Year (2011) Kevin McCarthy How can a movie with these great actors/comedians be so unfunny?

Footloose (2011) Kevin McCarthy Barely fresh considering director Craig Brewer essentially made a carbon copy of the original film just with less chemistry and a leading actor who sounded like Mark Whalberg!

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) (2011) Kevin McCarthy Imagine the most vile, disturbing, disgusting, atrocious, violent, appalling, sick, twisted, sadistic, horrifying, lifeless, vomit-inducing thing you can think of.

Real Steel (2011) Kevin McCarthy Oddly enough, I was more emotionally connected to Atom the robot than I was to any human characters. The film is a perfect example of mediocre mindless fun!

The Ides of March (2011) Kevin McCarthy The Ides of March is a masterfully written film with rapid-fire dialogue that has the intensity of a one-hundred minute action sequence.

Killer Elite (2011) Kevin McCarthy While the film has decent action sequences, the film is overly convoluted and very hard to follow at times. Wait for the rental!

Dolphin Tale (2011) Kevin McCarthy The overall story is better than the actual film. You can tell where Hollywood stepped in and fictionalized aspects of the story. It's still very inspirational and fun!

Abduction (2011) Kevin McCarthy One of the worst films of 2011. The script and editing are so horrific that it made Sigourney Weaver and Alfred Molina, two great actors, look bad. Stay far away!

Warrior (2011) Kevin McCarthy I cried three times! While a bit manipulative, I found myself emotionally invested in every character to the point where I could almost feel the punches!

Contagion (2011) Kevin McCarthy Thanks to Contagion, I used a paper towel to open a bathroom door the other day and now I'm washing my hands more often. One of the scariest movies in years!

Final Destination 5 (2011) Kevin McCarthy Stay away from all reviews/spoilers of this film, including mine, until you have seen it for yourself. If you're a fan of the series, you will not be disappointed.

The Help (2011) Kevin McCarthy A rare and important film where every single performance stands out. The film finds a perfect balance between telling a tough story and keeping it very entertaining!

The Devil's Double (2011) Kevin McCarthy It's sad that the film could not live up to Dominic Cooper's epic performance(s). The flick had such a made-for-TV feel containing massive plot holes and a cheesy romance.

Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011) Kevin McCarthy Crazy, Stupid, Love is one of the more refreshingly original romantic comedies containing a beautiful script that is unpredictable, funny and dramatic. I love this film!

The Smurfs (2011) Kevin McCarthy The Smurfs is uncomfortably cheesy and predictable. Kids truly deserve better films than this! The only redeeming quality was the performance from Hank Azaria.

Cowboys & Aliens (2011) Kevin McCarthy Underwhelming and disappointing. With five screenwriters, the film lacked substance and connection to the characters which made the decent action scenes appear worthless.

Friends With Benefits (2011) Kevin McCarthy The film has a great emotional core amongst the raunchy sequences. The problem is that the film becomes the cheesy romantic comedy that it makes fun of for the first hour.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) Kevin McCarthy The flick's action sequences and cinematography save the film from the awful pacing and cheesy romance. The real star is the shield! Stay away from the post-converted 3D.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) Kevin McCarthy As a standalone film, it delivers intense and engaging action. Though, I couldn't help but feel a bit underwhelmed by the final battle sequence we have waited ten years to see.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) Kevin McCarthy Bay has mastered and improved upon Cameron's technology to create a mind-blowing, nerd-tear shedding, action experience that is finally worth seeing in 3D!

Super 8 (2011) Kevin McCarthy A mind-blowing masterpiece. The films works perfectly on both an emotional and suspenseful level. Every aesthetic from Giacchino's score to Abrams' use of lens flares was epic!

Scream 4 (2011) Kevin McCarthy Scream 4 has the perfect opening and then slowly declines to a slightly above average slasher flick. It could have used more scares and less self-aware satire shtick.

I Am Number Four (2011) Kevin McCarthy The flick should be called I Am Number Six because Teresa Palmer steals the show with minimum screen time. I wish the movie was as good as the last twenty minutes.
