Two years after the release of The Thin Man finds Cary Grant and Joan Bennett paired as a more grounded type of sleuthing couple in the vein of Nick and Nora Charles, only without all of the vodka martinis and more blue-collar. They're after some jewel thieves, who're led by the "overly cultured and so he's highly suspicious" Walter Pidgeon. There are plenty of twists, with snappy dialogue included, but the plotting, direction, and secondary characterizations are too obvious, exposing a lack of finesse, which gums up the works, like a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. It does the job, eh, but blah. It's better than a B movie. Call it a B+.

Great movie with Grant, if you're a fan, you should see this one.

Just another programmer churned out in the thirties as fodder for the lower half of the bill but also used as building blocks for stars, this has two of the best with Cary Grant and Joan Bennett a nice team, a shame they didn't get to work together when they were at the top, they have a really nice chemistry with each other.
