Movie Info

Blake Edwards directed this perfectly awful comedy about a pair of losers -- a Hollywood extra (Ted Danson) and a carhop (Howie Mandel) -- who win the jackpot at the racetrack after overhearing (in Three's Company fashion) another pair of losers' (Richard Mulligan and Stuart Margolin) plans to fix the race.

Critic Reviews for A Fine Mess

All Critics (4)

Obviously inspired by the 1932 Laurel & Hardy short The Music Box, A Fine Mess represents director Blake Edwards at his most witless and desperate.

...a thoroughly ludicrous but strangely enjoyable piece of work.

Audience Reviews for A Fine Mess

Another 80's movie I thought was great when I was 12. The hormones were really flowing back then and Maria Conchita Alonso was hot. I have just put this on Netflix. Lets see how 22 years have affected my feelings for this thing.

There are some of the usual Blake Edwards touches, but this one is a misfire. The slapstick isn't funny enough and the casting is uninspired, particularly Howie Mandel. He stinks. Fair comedy that could have been a lot better.
