TJDS10 T @TJDS10 May 11 While I commend the sequel for being more bold with its sci-fi mechanics this time around, it also gives us a messier film than the first. But Jessica Rothe keeps this film afloat with a dynamic performance rarely seen in this genre. She really gets to do a bit of everything here, showcasing not only her ScreamQueen abilities and comedic timing, but also some serious emotional chops with one scene in particular and even becomes kind of an action heroine during the climax. She commits to every bit of this film and seriously elevates an ambitious but flawed screenplay. See more Melissa L @Agent99 May 5 I thought it was just as good as the first one. It answered questions from the first film, but also had an unanswered question of "who was the first killer?" was off putting. It’s a slasher sequel, so you expect it to do the same basic things, but this movie wanders out of the horror realm and, for better and for worse, enters sci-fi territory. Once again, I think Jessica Rothe really shines in her role as Tree Gelbman. She truly does bring the fun and the heart to this story. However, much like the first film, the plot gets overly ridiculous near the end and loses focus of what it should be. So, yes, Happy Death Day 2U is another lesser slasher sequel, but it also features some genuinely amusing moments. A introdução da ficção científica e o aprofundamento do conceito de viagem no tempo tornam o filme mais ambicioso e surpreendentemente emocional. A trama continua profunda, abordando temas como a importância de seguir em frente e deixar o passado para trás, além de explorar de forma sensível as relações de maternidade, romance e amizade. Os personagens estão mais desenvolvidos, especialmente a protagonista, e o loop temporal é usado de forma inteligente para reforçar seu crescimento. No entanto, o primeiro ato, centrado em Ryan, acaba criando um certo deslocamento narrativo e desperdiçando tempo que poderia ser usado em outros aspectos da história. Embora possa decepcionar quem espera mais terror, para quem abraça sua proposta de ficção científica e emoção, o filme funciona muito bem. Nota 7/10.
