Can't help but think that Robert Redford thought of this film when he directed his Oscar winning Ordinary People. The psychology here is much more simple than what Redford achieved with his film - which really isn't saying much. Yet, this film is worthy of screening for the performances of the entire cast - especially for Melvyn Douglas and Estelle Parsons. Gene Hackman's performance deserves attention, too, but, for me, Douglas and Parsons deliver the more noteworthy performances.

Very good early Hackman and he and Douglas spar nicely. Another story of intergenerational conflict and misunderstanding appropriately executed by the performers.
