What to know

critics consensus

Ice Age: Continental Drift 3D has moments of charm and witty slapstick, but it often seems content to recycle ideas from the previous films. Read critic reviews

Movie Info

Scrat's continuous pursuit of an infernal acorn has world-changing consequences for Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Alberto Leguizamo) and Diego (Denis Leary) when the continents split apart. The continental crack-up separates Manny and his friends from the rest of the herd, including Manny's mate, Ellie (Jennifer Lopez) and rebellious daughter Peaches (Keke Palmer). The pals are desperate to return home, but a pirate (Peter Dinklage) and his ragtag crew stand in their way.

It's time they have to stop making these kinds of movies but leave Scrat behind because Scrat deserves all the attention than the rest of the movie.

While it improves slightly above the third in the series, Ice Age: Continental Drift is just as underwhelming as the other Ice Ages. The daughter-father conflict is dull and cliché and Blue Sky stuffs the film with annoying pop star voices (even if Nicki Minaj can be funny once in a while). The animation is expectedly spectacular and Scrat still steals the show. The fourth film still proves, however, that these prehistoric creatures have run their course. Overall Rating: 47

Sure, the creator's are struggling more and more with adding even more supposedly quirky characters, when the first film worked so great with just four. The attempts to copy current youth culture are also quite annoying. But you know what? Some of the jokes and ideas are still really funny and the film jumps from action sequence to action sequence in really brilliantly looking animation, you just can't dislike it.

Funny, cute, but very forgettable. Plus, I literally lost count if this is the 4th Ice Age or 5th. How many are there? Are they gonna continue to kill a dying franchise? Regardless, I had a good time, not great. Animation's superb though.
