11/16/2010 Anthology film that surprises not so much with style and content but rather with its strictly non-commercial approach, in spite of some huge popstars working both behind and in front of the camera. As an omnibus film, Heroes In Love pretty much fails in the same way every omnibus film does, being reciprocally uneven and lenient on quality control. While Wing Shya's Kidnap tries to tell a purposeful story with rather obscure means, director duo Nicolas Tse/Stephen Fung excels in seemingly pointlessly symbolic imagery in their pretentious effort My Beloved. By contrast, Vinci Cheuk manages a both cute and realistic puppy love story with Oh G!, bringing some freshness and naturalism to her cinematic celebration of youth.
