Breathe J @SilverScreenSweetheart 5d Lincoln (2012) follows the heroic presidency of Abraham Lincoln (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he led the Union Army to victory. Wow, it is nearly impossible to describe this movie in less than 1,000 characters! I thought this movie would be good but I was wrong… It was STELLAR. The direction (from Spielberg) was stunning, the costumes were exquisite, the photography was gorgeous, and the screenplay was amazing. The cast was impeccable, especially Daniel Day-Lewis. His Oscar-winning performance fully captured Lincoln’s spirit, as seen in his mannerisms, stories, and quiet strength. His portrayal honored Lincoln’s memory beautifully. Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones gave stunning performances as well. I admired the fact that Lincoln’s assassin was not named or shown in the movie, preserving Lincoln’s dignity and legacy. Overall, this movie is among the best I have ever seen! I would definitely recommend it for anyone and everyone, especially Americans and fans of Lincoln. God bless you. See more Michael W. Jun 12 This is a bit complicated in that it portrays Lincoln after her eventually realized that freeing slaves would not only be morally correct but could further cripple the South. Also, note that racial equality was not a determinate factor regarding emancipation. Nonetheless, however somewhat over romantic, Daniel Day-Lewis is without a doubt one of the finest actors of our generation. There wasn't a scene where you couldn't wait to see him.. See more Chris B @Papa13070 May 14 I love, love, love this movie! I can't say enough great things about it. I'm so glad that Daniel Day-Lewis won the Oscar, it was so well deserved. I thought that Sally Field was robbed of the Oscar. This is not just a wonderfully great film, but an educational one as well. I learned things about that time period and Lincoln that I had either forgotten or never knew. I just loved it all the way through from start to finish. All the actors were great. David Strathairn was just as good as Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones. I saw this film three times in the theater, it is that good. It's well acted, well directed, well edited, well put together and an A+ film. If you haven't seen yet, don't delay go watch it today.
