Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh team up in "Mayday," a genre-bending, action-packed buddy comedy that flips the spy thriller on its head. It’s a compliment to call "Mayday" a latter-day "Top Gun" riff, because it satisfyingly meets the needs of that film’s core audience — delivering a buddy comedy, a road movie and an international adventure, with surprising heart.

Reliant on personalities over script, this bland action "comedy" is somehow not dated enough for the 80s, but not relevant enough for now (in spite of a 3rd act attempt to add deeper social messaging). A flavorless streaming choice, but not unwatchable.

Delivered exactly what i thought. Based in the end of the cold war. For those judging it wasnt similar to real life experiences. Of course it wasnt, you didnt serve 40 years ago. And if you did, you dont know what reddit is! It wasn't made for a documentary. It was made as a comedy, for a partake on the end of the USSR. Made to seem how different and related our countries (ussr and usa) were. A different experience from a point of a russian who loved the USA, and from an American who only knew what he was told about Russia. It may not represent russia, or the USA. But can you say we are all the same? Americans all have different opinions. And Russians do to. Army views, navy's views, air forces views. All different on opinions, and operations. Enjoy the opinions of someone else, a different view. Like listening to someone elses religion, dont judge, don't ignore, but understand and accept we are all different!
