The show follows Guy Anatole, fresh out of law school and positioned for a bright future at a white-shoe firm in New York. He is approached and recruited by a mysterious woman who is a senior member of the Talamasca, a secretive organization devoted to surveilling the supernatural. As Guy is drawn further into this unknown world, he realizes he's been enlisted for a singular and perilous purpose: to go undercover into the Talamasca's London Motherhouse and unmask an agent who may be working with dangerous forces to bring down the entire organization from within, threatening the safety of the entire mortal world.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Talamasca: The Secret Order indulges in the world of Anne Rice's Immortal Universe, though lacking compared to other supernatural procedurals, its endless potential far outweighs its completionist fare.

Talamasca is well paced across its six episodes and features a couple of genuine twists—narrative accomplishments that are few and far between in Rice’s novels. Go to Full Review
Alison Herman Variety Oct 27
The six-episode season is a disjointed and muddled attempt to turn Rice’s centuries-old secret society into a vehicle for a half-hearted spy thriller. Go to Full Review

Where Interview With the Vampire is ambitious, Talamasca is brand management, and as the season progresses, you can sense how desperately it’s trying to prove its own worth and failing. Go to Full Review

Is Talamasca: The Secret Order a successful series? No, however, it does fill in some of the gaps of the Immortal Universe. Go to Full Review

While the execution leaves something to be desired, and it’s certainly not without its flaws, Talamasca: The Secret Order could grow into its potential. Go to Full Review

There’s a ton of back-and-forth over who are the true heroes and it gets tedious fast. Go to Full Review

Jay S @jrsslc Apr 11 It's a fun little vampire thriller. It's not top notch but worth a go See more leslie D @LED816 Mar 26 Honestly this seemed really cheesy. Almost campy. The casting is bad… I mean who chose Jason Schwartzman as a vampire??? And while I feel bad saying this, there are just too many old people to hold my interest. I’m 40 but still like seeing more youthful and vibrant people on screen, not people who look like they all belong in a retirement home. Someone like Francis Conroy I always love seeing, but these people are just stiff and boring. Maybe that’s true to character for the books, I have to admit I didn’t read these, but the actors, the music, the dialogue… it feels cheap and not like other Anne Rice novels. If there’s a season 2, I won’t be watching. See more Spad D @RT63760664 Mar 22 The story is ok but the lead actor really ruined it. Same bland expression the whole show. Couldn't go on to watch till the end although the supporting cast was great See more Paul H @TesticusGalacticus Mar 21 The story was okay but the writing was terrible, the pacing was boring, it felt unnecessarily drawn out, the stars is for the lead who was very good See more A . @Laoife Mar 2 Loved this show! Nice to see it as a standalone series but that it also integrates characters from IWTV. Really great storytelling and character development. William Fichtner and Elizabeth McGovern are stellar as per usual, and Nicholas Dentons acting, 10/10. Really hoping for a season 2, to see how the story continues and furthers the character arcs. See more Blunder B @Zippitydoodah Feb 10 Boring and don't care about the characters, lots of talking about supernatural and following and monitoring by a wet wipe American, where is Wesley Snipes when you need him So Jasper bad vampire takes over London Talamasca offices and Talamasca do jack about it... yawn yawn yawn far too procedural and WTF is plod doing in the mix???
