The affection with which the breezy Australian mockumentary Razzle Dazzle: A Journey Into Dance tweaks the twinkle-toed denizens of the competitive dance scene makes it easy to like.
A rare example of a mockumentary geared for family viewing, Aussie laffer Razzle Dazzle: A Journey Into Dance runs the world of children's dance competitions through the ringer and comes up with amusing results.
Razzle Dazzle is a warm hearted yet meaningful affair that sparkles with wit and charm -- and guarantees you'll leave the cinema with a large grin on your face.
it's in the same class as the best movies by Christopher Guest's company. British comic Ben Miller is brilliant as pretentious choreographer Mr Jonathon.
Like many mock-docs, it struggles to establish the patina of reality, but it makes up for it with some very funny jokes.
While director Darren Ashton doesn't bring anything particularly new to the genre, his direction is suitably deadpan and he is rewarded with superb performances from his leads.
It's not the laugh out loud kind of stuff, more a quiet chuckle sort of film, but there are plenty of those chuckles to be had.
With its nonstop flow of visual and verbal gags and its superbly sustained mock-doc style, this feels like a collision between Best in Show and a pre-teen Strictly Ballroom. It's also one of the most hilarious films of the year.
Uneven, but not unamusing.
A quirky, feel-good comedy that shuffles high kicks, an obsessed stage mother and two dance teachers with conflicting philosophies.
