Movie Info

In this romantic drama from Hong Kong, a filmmaker looks back at her first love as she collaborates on a screenplay about romance. Cheryl (Sylvia Chang) is working with a writer to help her refine a story about a pair of lovers, Shao-rou (Gigi Leung) and Ho-chuen (Takeshi Kaneshiro). The two teenagers steal away for a night together on an island, only to face the wrath of Shao-rou's mother when they return. Ho-chuen decides to break up, and Shao-rou's best friend, Li (Karen Mok), responds to the news by offering both sympathy and physical affection. Years later, Shao-rou and Ho-chuen meet by happenstance in Tokyo; she's a successful fashion designer, and he's a tour guide. Though Ho-chuen is now married, there is still an attraction between the two, and they begin a new affair. However, the screenwriters who are controlling their destines have a few surprises in store for them

A fascinating idea -- that the concept and retelling of a romance is far more attractive to people than the real thing. It's like dissecting a film from the inside out.

It was a moving film. I didn't really enjoy the whole movie but at the end I was truly moved by it. Touching!
