I didn’t even realize I was watching the movie for that long and was disappointed it ended. The only con imo is how it ended. I hope there’s some sort of sequel that shows how they all end up on their journey. See more Wade W. @wade_says Jan 18 Sweet Dreams is a story of an alcoholic who goes into rehab and tries to turn his life around. Johnny Knoxville is the main character and I’ve always personally liked his acting and style. In this one, he has a more dramatic role. It’s one of those movies about real people with real issues. It all feels genuine. There are many heartfelt moments. The guy just wants to get sober and reunite with his daughter. It feels like an indie film, which it basically is, I guess. It doesn’t overstay its welcome. You also have a good supporting cast with comedians/podcasters like Theo Von and Bobby Lee. They actually do a great job, adding some laughs. The stakes get high around the halfway point when a bunch of money is on the line and the boys play in a softball tournament. There’s a lot riding on them, but I won’t spoil it. The directing is actually pretty good and the pacing is solid. The editing is definitely not the greatest, as a few scenes had me confused, where two people are talking, but the editing is all over the place. Overall, I thought this was a heartfelt, genuine movie with heart. It’s lowkey an you can tell it’s low budget, but the characters were fun to watch and easy to cheer for. See more L L Sep 13 I really enjoyed this movie. It's definitely in the Feelgood category, and some people complain about it being formulaic, but I need formulaic about now! Something with some hope. I enjoyed the recovery aspect, and the dynamic between the men. Also, I thought there was a lot of decent acting in this from people I've never heard of, then that was really fun. This movie is not perfect by any means, and I believe the softball spin on it actually holds it back; however, I found myself rooting for and growing attached to each character’s progression. The downside of this film lies in a lot of mediocre and poor acting, unfinished storylines, predictable writing, a dud of an ending, and a lack of chemistry in what should be an amazing cast for a comedy. Johnny Knoxville gives a commendable performance, but most of the funniest scenes are left on the cutting room floor in the credits.
