I've more or less had it with this stuff, but the film is distinguished by the grubby velocity of his foot chases, and the effectiveness of its craft (not to mention the unglamorous resolution of at least one character's fate).

You're still going to get the chases, the violence, and the dark tone you would expect, but all of that is rooted in reality and drama making The Chaser come very close to the neo-noir genre.

The first half was ok, but the second half was frustrating to watch. The female detective was literally following the killer and somehow managed to lose him. The portrayal of the Korean police felt ridiculous. People and neighbours go missing and no one reports it, and the killer keeps getting released far too easily. Completely unrealistic and honestly a joke.
