For the most part, the film embraces its contradictions. As a parable about forgiveness, it's a fine example. As a portrait of the real Trautmann, some questions remain, hanging in the air like a ball on the way to the far corner of the net.

This sports biopic was really good. David Kross, Freya Mavor, John Henshaw, Harry Melling, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. This true story about the German goalkeeper Bert Trautmann was dramatic, inspirational, and tragic. It's about doing what you love even if you receive a lot of hate and harassment and never giving up no matter what happens. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see, even if you're not a soccer fan.

"The Keeper", is an inspirational film based on true life's events of Bert Trautmann, a German prisoner of war in Britain to become a historical iconic goalie amidst the post World War II prejudice. Evocatively directed and superbly acted by all characters, particularly David Kross (Bert) & Freya Mavor (Margaret), also Harry Melling, this film strikes at one's heartstrings & poignantly illustrates the best and worst of human behavior. When we define fellow humans beyond geographic borders and political affiliations, the possibility of fundamental qualities of love, Goodness and genuineness of spirit manifest themselves. The Keeper is a superb film for a mature audience !
