Critics Consensus

The Wrecking Crew is as brawny and disarmingly charming as its two leading men, smashing through a thin story with colorful pyrotechnics and a satisfying amount of attitude.

Momoa and Bautista, who respectively play a loose-cannon cop and disciplinarian special forces operative, have fun with the action sequences and put some genuine effort into the fractured sibling dynamic. Go to Full Review

Soto blends these bits of comedy, drama, action, suspense, and style into a movie that's a real banger. Here's hoping we get a sequel. Go to Full Review

This lean, mean, R-rated action machine is better than you'd think since Momoa and Bautista take the time, between fights and jokes, to examine the bruised places in the hearts of these half brothers. You feel for them, and that makes all the difference. Go to Full Review

Extremely violent, predictably plotted and more than occasionally puerile it may be, it is hard though to dislike a movie with such swagger, chutzpah and the most evocative use of Air Supply since 2010’s Animal Kingdom. Go to Full Review

One of the film's greatest strengths is the chemistry between Bautista and Momoa, which sustains the movie even when the script becomes predictable. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Wrecking Crew is loud, funny, and unapologetically sentimental in the way the best buddy comedies are. It understands that action and humor don’t have to cancel out sincerity. Go to Full Review

Eli H @EliHendricks 2h Take a lot of Lethal Weapon, add a handful of Deadpool, combine a dash of the good parts, from Boondock Saints, that scene from Old Boy, and just a hint a of John Wick and you get a pretty good approximation of the Wrecking Crew. To be clear, all of that is a compliment. Bautista and Mamoa are pitch perfect as brothers who not to be messed with. The use of real issues that effect the Hawaiian people add a since of realism to the proceedings of what easily could have been a paint by numbers buddy cop movie. Miyavi was a standout as the Yakuza final boss as well, I hope to see more of him in the future. See more Benjamin W @Code70 4d Enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. For me, for the most part, it was a rather enjoyable buddy-cop movie. Really the biggest criticism I have with the film is that it follows the standard trope to a tee. Which is to say, it’s not in any way pushing the genre forward, it completely settles for being just another one of these movies. But sometimes, that’s enough. This is a very charming one of those movies. Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista have great chemistry with each other, the whole cast is very charming. It’s a good bit funnier than I expected (loved seeing Jacob Batalon in here), and the action likewise had a lot more edge to it than I thought it would, which of course was a lot of fun. So yeah, I mean, this is a good one. This one’s deserving of a higher score a little bit higher than I would typically give these kind of movies. See more Swati B @Swatii 4d The Wrecking Crew is a fun mix of action and comedy with some solid performances. The story keeps things moving, and the action scenes are entertaining without taking itself too seriously. It’s not a perfect movie, but it’s an easy watch if you’re in the mood for some action, humor, and a little chaos. Una pérdida inmensa de tiempo y otro nivel de mala calidad dentro del "cine de acción" See more Noah S @noah309112 Aug 21 The plot twist antagonist is seen from a mile away.. it’s the one you think is least likely to be the suspect while also easily guessing the few people it could be.. it’s funny enough, but it’s like all the other action comedy drama movies, hard for it to really leave a mark.. reminded me kind of fast and furious 7 onward.. the final fight scene was super lame compared to some of the others.. overall I wouldn’t watch it again, no villain progression, it’s mainly about the brothers, and that’s what you get! See more Paul C @RT04335743 Aug 16 Great stuff. Laughed throughout. Worth the time for sure See more Read all reviews
