Some really spectacular stunt work in this episode, but my favorite shot involved Roy dodging bullets as he ran through the pipes during the fight with Brick's men. That was just stunning.

Brick seems like an interesting new villain, and it's about time we saw Laurel do something heroic and not lawyer-ish.

The relative lack of Oliver Queen did nothing to hurt Arrow in its mid-season premiere.

Arrow is back, and it's letting us know a couple of important things. One -- no one can even guess where this season is going to go. Two -- it's going to be incredibly sweet to get there.

To be honest, the introduction of Arrow's newest villain, Brick, wasn't all that compelling, but Emily Bett Rickards' performance along with the rest of Team Arrow's response to Oliver's death carried the episode.

'Left Behind' is a busy but compelling episode of Arrow skilfully scripted to allow its many miscellaneous plot threads time to breathe.

Here's hoping that some of the DC mythology bleeds its way into next week's episode by way of explanation, because for a mid-season premiere, this episode was only so-so.

All in all, a very entertaining and eventful beginning to the second part of Arrow's third season.

In successfully exorcising the central character for a good portion of the hour, "Left Behind" shows itself to be a greatly dexterous installment of television.

Like so much of "Left Behind," this is Arrow in a bit of a holding pattern-an inevitability until Oliver comes home-but the new pieces on display bode well for the back half of season three.
