Perhaps the biggest takeaway here is that when something appears too good to be true, it probably is. Go to Full Review

It’s heartbreaking and hopeless to watch these shocking stories of gross misconduct and, frankly, murder. Go to Full Review

The scope of Paolo Macchiarini’s likes is breathtaking, and Bad Surgeon: Love Under The Knife does a good job of explaining just how he was able to fool so many people. Go to Full Review

DESTINY A @DIAMONDAKAFYA Feb 14 A VERY GOOD TV SERIES See more Isaac O @RT82772888 11/13/2024 This documentary is both powerful and disturbing, highlighting how trust can be shattered not only in personal relationships but also within life-saving medical fields. It’s gripping and thought-provoking, even if it can be uncomfortable to witness Benita Alexander’s dual role as both victim and exposer. Benita Alexander’s involvement feels complex and, to some extent, hypocritical—she chose to expose Macchiarini’s medical misdeeds only after their relationship ended. However, her decision to go public is commendable, as it sheds light on the dangers of unchecked ambition in medicine. The film exposes the high human cost of Paolo Macchiarini's unethical practices, whose initially celebrated experimental work on trachea transplants eventually led to severe controversy and patient harm. Overall, this is a compelling documentary that reveals how Macchiarini’s once-promising medical career spiraled due to unethical practices, patient deaths, and fabricated research results. It shows the extent to which humans can go in the search for riches. See more jess d @RT13902494 07/12/2024 *Spoilers* Good doco overall. HOWEVER I would have liked to see more about how the windpipes failed & where they lay on the obviousness scale of being complete useless junk. It does not really describe if other staff would have felt these were doomed to fail or have outsiders discuss the proposed surgical intervention in terms of what chance they ever stood in working. Without this aspect it makes it harder to tell whether Pablo had any belief he was going to succeed or whether he willingly just started murdering people for some reason you have to guess the motove for. Yes it uncovers he faked data & was obviously clear he knew it wasn't working, but it leaves a gap l- eg what was found in animal studies that occured after the inital human... testing. There's just a real gap to this aspect which it feels the doco tries to cover up by highlighting his terrible personal life lies as a portrayal of a kind of evidence for his medical lies. This doco left me with alot of questions and its quite possible the makers just didn't have answers, but it woukd have helped alot if other research doctors had been broight in to discuss the medical details more & cases which woukd have shed light possibly on the thinking that went on behind these terrible surgeries See more Eddy H @RT62683044 06/02/2024 Excellent exposé. I've read about this case before, but this really gets into the nitty-gritty of it, including a lot of new footage and revelations. Not a wasted moment. Enthralling and deeply disturbing. See more Richard W @RT65767935 03/31/2024 This was very disturbing at the end ,but a very good documentary, it keeps you fascinated through its entirety, and it's hard to believe how good a con man can be ,and how justice is never delivered properly See more ORLY J @RT22678094 02/15/2024 I'm still watching, and it's interesting in a trashy documentary way. But Benita Alexander's complete and oblivious lack of integrity is jaw dropping, even by the standards of today's zero shame society. Anyone wondering why nobody trusts the media now (except a few diehard partisans rooting for their own diehard partisan media): watch this show. 'He was so dreamy, my friends all agreed'. No apparent remorse for originally doing a puff piece on a guy arguably killing people while romantically involved with him. Instead she's the victim when actual journalists dig into it and find out the truth. I think she actually says 'journalistic integrity' once, and amazingly, manages not to choke on it.
