It’s gripping and thought-provoking, even if it can be uncomfortable to witness Benita Alexander’s dual role as both victim and exposer. Benita Alexander’s involvement feels complex and, to some extent, hypocritical—she chose to expose Macchiarini’s medical misdeeds only after their relationship ended. However, her decision to go public is commendable, as it sheds light on the dangers of unchecked ambition in medicine. The film exposes the high human cost of Paolo Macchiarini's unethical practices, whose initially celebrated experimental work on trachea transplants eventually led to severe controversy and patient harm. Overall, this is a compelling documentary that reveals how Macchiarini’s once-promising medical career spiraled due to unethical practices, patient deaths, and fabricated research results. It shows the extent to which humans can go in the search for riches. But Benita Alexander's complete and oblivious lack of integrity is jaw dropping, even by the standards of today's zero shame society. Anyone wondering why nobody trusts the media now (except a few diehard partisans rooting for their own diehard partisan media): watch this show. 'He was so dreamy, my friends all agreed'. No apparent remorse for originally doing a puff piece on a guy arguably killing people while romantically involved with him. Instead she's the victim when actual journalists dig into it and find out the truth. I think she actually says 'journalistic integrity' once, and amazingly, manages not to choke on it.
