Characters jump into and out of the mission and people walk around with the burden of the world on their shoulders without humour, without time for pause. Go to Full Review

Danish Hussain’s comfort in Pashto is as sound as his capability to appear menacing without turning into a caricature. I wish Bard of Blood would go in darker places with him. Go to Full Review

With a lack of thrills, action or humour, seven episodes feel like 70 in this choppy, shoddy affair from Netflix India. Go to Full Review

Amidst the crowd of several well-made thrillers, this one isn’t a frontrunner. Go to Full Review

Emraan Hashmi is back in our lives, and after binge-watching 7 episodes of Netflix's Bard of Blood, I can say for sure that it's a good thing. Go to Full Review

The seven-episode series is imbued less with the spirit of Shakespeare's classic tragedies than with the dynamics of his history plays where wily statecraft and vaulting ambition drive individuals towards acts of betrayal and heroism. Go to Full Review

M B. @MattyBinDC Mar 5 I just started this! And holy cow enough with running into law enforcement or bad guys every 10 minutes and getting away. The last one was like 15 officers chasing and shooting at them and they just get away. 🤣 Yes build the tension but pump the brakes a little. Great story line but it’s getting silly. I think this should be on top. This is better than family man. The mystery lies till the last minute what else one would expect. I got to know about Baluchistan, BLA, Quetta, Kech, diplomatic decisions and many other things watching this really amazing series. Hoping they will make season 2. I really didn't expect Sharukh/Gauri to produce such a quality thing. As it stands Bard of Blood has an audience score of 88% which tells me this review process is a complete mockery. This misleading rating is really what made me want to write a review. Objectively there is zero chance this series deserves a rating that high. A rational rating is about 30%. Having just finished watching the series today, I can't countenance not doing my bit to rectify the misleading score. To get entertainment from Bard of Blood, you will need to turn off your brain. Unfortunately it is saturated with constant, silly, implausible actions. Worse than a cartoon in many cases. Just as I had a moment of getting into the story, someone would do something glaringly ridiculous, or there would be something unfeasible glossed over, or a hole in the story. This constantly caused frustration. It's like a child, or someone with little common sense and zero experience wrote many parts of the story. If you are the type to point out stupid mistakes in a film, this film will provide a tremendous number of opportunities, practically moment by moment. I'm not bothered by a fair amount of unrealistic content as it's generally part and parcel of action films, but there gets a point where you start constantly face palming at the stupidity. In stark contrast with the story, cinematography was very good. Clearly a high production budget. Watching English dub, it was good in that there was no profanity or nudity. See more 10/31/2019 I was drawn to this because of the all-around amazing cast. I've seen each one of them deliver fantastic performances in other projects. However, I was disappointed by how mediocre this show turned out. It featured every cliche of the genre - the dead aren't dead, the women are fiery till they need rescuing, all terrorists look the same, etc. It was made worse by directorial choices that kept everything superficial at best. Emraan was one-note throughout, Vineet's accent changed by the minute, and Sobhita literally had nothing going on. Kirti was the only actor who made an impression with her passionate Jannat. One scene illustrates it above all others - when Shehzad comments that the events in question can't be an Indian operation as the Indians would never send a woman to Balochistan. The moment begged (pleaded!) for a reaction from Abida. It would have nicely foreshadowed her future turn. But no. This series won't allow us to have nice things. Just characters who make convenient, but confusing choices. That said, I did follow it through to the end because it felt mildly gripping. Also, kudos for ending the main mission and finding their cliffhanger somewhere else. See more Read all reviews
